Overview

Wendy Adams has decided enough is enough, and is tooling up like Rambo to take down the eldritch abominations knocking about her town.

This is a 39xp deck designed for standalone multiplayer, and is Taboo-friendly (as of September 2021). The deck aims to help make Wendy able to use her (!) to fight (!!), using recursion and icons/ability boosts to come out on top. In other words, someone else better be getting the clues, because Miss Adams is too busy washing the blood from her face.

So what can Wendy do?

Shoot things: With six firearms in the deck, she has access to at least +2 attacks that deal at least 2 damage per use. But given Wendy's base 1, that may not sound too great! That's why Yaotl is there to be your wingman. Many of the cards in this deck have icons which are perfect to commit and then have Yaotl exhaust later to reuse their icons for an attack. Live and Learn, Rise to the Occasion and the permanent Scrapper are all there to help you succeed.

Outwit enemies: With plenty of icons in the deck, plus Scrapper and Wendy's innate 4, evading enemies should not be difficult. Afterwards, use .25 Automatic or Sneak Attack to kill them off. Pickpocketing takes advantage of that evading by giving you cards and resources - which you will need to power Scrapper, although Faustian Bargain is also there to help keep your funds topped up.

Be tricksy: If you fire all the ammo on a gun, use Act of Desperation to throw it at your enemy - especially good for making the most out of the Colt Vest Pocket as the last action before you discard it from play. Sleight of Hand is a great way to play the more expensive weapons for a couple of shots before returning them to hand. A Test of Will will save you from a nasty treachery in a pinch.

Reuse her stuff: A key card in this deck is Scavenging(2). Although this deck is not meant to do much clue gathering, you can use Wendy's respectable 3, Perceptions and maybe Live and Learns to scavenge at (ideally) low-shroud locations for weapons from your discard pile to play actionlessly. Daring Maneuver is there to help you hit that pass-by-2 requirement of Scavenging (or Pickpocketing). For other ways of recursing or reusing cards from the discard pile, you have Shrine of the Moirai and Wendy's Amulet. (I decided against including Resourceful or Scrounge for Supplies in the deck for space reasons, but they would probably work well here if you felt like swapping them in.)

Adapting the deck

Lower XP level: If you want to play this deck at lower than 39xp, then some cards which you could either downgrade or replace are: Pickpocketing(2) (> Pickpocketing), Sneak Attack(2) (> Sneak Attack), Colt Vest Pocket(2) (> Colt Vest Pocket) and .25 Automatic(2) (> .25 Automatic). You could go for the level 0 Scavenging as well, though the level 2 version works especially well in this deck. A level 0 version of this deck is possible, with e.g. Knife instead of the Old Hunting Rifle, Scrounge for Supplies instead of Shrine of the Moirai, and Scrapper(0) instead of Scrapper(3). Yaotl will be missed, but you could use Lonnie Ritter for the boost or Madame Labranche for extra resources or card draw.

Solo play: If Wendy is the sole investigator, then she will probably need more to help her get clues. Consider subbing in Flashlights, "Look what I found!" or Belly of the Beast for this reason.
