Introduction

This deck is meant to preview 2 new cards for The Drowned City expansion to be released in early 2025. But since I like to build (semi-)viable decks, here's a thematic, hopefully working deck that uses the new cards!

Since most of you are probably here for the cards only, here they are:

If you'd like to see this deck with the new cards already included and start building your own decks using the latest previews, check it out on Arkham.build! View this Deck on Arkham.build..
Arkham.build offers many great features, such as card recommendations, and it can sync with your ArkhamDB account. I used its card annotations to add a bit extra info on why I chose specific cards and what they can be replaced with or upgraded into.

For those who made it that far, the following cards need to be replaced by their preview equivalent:

Even though this deck uses Mystic cards to replace the cards that are not on ArkhamDB yet, holders of the forbidden knowledge may use it as is and cards will be replaced automatically with the correct ones.

Table of Contents:
  • Overview

  • Main Strategy

  • The Stalk

  • The Harvest

Overview:

Difficulty: ★★★☆☆
Enemy Management: ★★★★☆
Clue-getting: ★☆☆☆☆
Encounter protection: ★★★☆☆
Survivability: ★★★☆☆
Economy: ★★★☆☆
Card Drawing: ★★★☆☆

Main Strategy:

The Stalk:
  • The first thing a Marksman of your kind needs to do, is to be safe while tracking your prey. Your strategy, for that matter, is to always Take the Initiative and stay out of trouble.

  • As any good Monster Hunter, you need a team. Thankfully, your Charisma helps with that task.

  • Then you need contracts.

  • Because Monsters are dangerous beings, you need weapons:

    • The Luger P08 can be reloaded infinitely when you are deep in the woods.
    • It attacks but it is weak...
    • Thankfully, you learned how to Enchant your Weapons with a certain Lady Esprit after helping her on a Werewolf contract.
    • You once met a man with a Wolf Medallion and white hair who told you that silver helped deal with Monsters. Since then, you always load your Luger P08 with Custom Ammunition made of Silver.
    • If the fight goes dirtier than expected, your trusty Survival Knife (also Enchanted of course) can take over for some melee business.
  • Finally, you need a Plan you can stick to:

The Harvest:
  • As you prepare to fight, make sure that you are Ready for Anything so your options are broad.

  • When you locate your prey, you can either move quickly towards it or try to see if there is anything that you can learn while On the Trail.

  • Ask Dakota Garofalo to guide you to Monster's location, make sure it's engaged with you and no one else before you can take the shot.

  • At the tavern, you bet with Dakota that you could shoot the Monster in the eye on your first shot. "Watch this!", you say, as she owes you 3$

  • As soon as the fight is engaged you have to get the job done:

    • If the Monster seems pretty strong, make sure to give it the Hunter's Mark
    • Luger P08 shoots for 3 damage once it is Enchanted and has Silver Ammunition
    • As you make an astounding shot, you pull out your Lucky Cigarette Case to indicate to Sister Sofia that she can take a Quick Shot
    • Once your Luger P08 is exhausted, you can use your Enchanted Survival Knife for another 2 damage.
    • Or you can reload and ready it, your Guard Dogs turning the Attack of Opportunity into more damage. After this, you are ready to take another shot!
    • If there is more than one prey, or it is a biggie, you can wait for the Monster to attack you up close to let your Dogs take another munch and give it the final blow with your Survival Knife
    • This makes for 15 damage in 2 actions (if it was your last), which is more than decent but takes quite some setup to achieve
  • Once the job is done, you can crack a matchstick from your Lucky Cigarette Case to Burn the remains

  • You are not a murderer, if your target turns out to be sentient, please Handcuff it and bring it to the closest town to be faced with justice.

  • Any additional Quick Shots drawn by Ready for Anything or Lucky Cigarette Case can be used!

    • It's a shame that Hunting Jackets fit you so poorly... Having one where you can store your cartridges would help landing your Quick Shots much easier!

Upgrade Path:

This deck is not meant to be played in a campaign, but if you really want to, I'm sure you could find a way to make it work ;)

The shotgun nun on the bike is the sickest artwork ever :D

Fabulous deck as always! I love the theme (though I may be biased) and I feel like Quick Shot is really promising for a possible future guardian aggressive cycler. Hopefully they give us guardian draw to slot in and really make it sing!

I was here!

I like the Creature in addition to Monster in Dakota. It expands effective range to annoying enemies that looks like common animals such as rats, birds, snakes, spiders, penguins, etc. (what a highly specific list of examples)
