Planned for GenCon 2017 Standalone Scenario: Labyrinths of Lunacy
This is a The Red-Gloved Man deck. It is also an Agnes Baker deck, and that makes it pretty special. This deck is a little on the side of greedy for uniques (someone is gonna pitch a fit about Peter Sylvestre), but it makes up for it in effectiveness. When you take Agnes Baker's ability to swap her other abilities with her , and combine it with The Red-Gloved Man's ability to also replace her weaker stats, it answers so many problems.
Flare works to get your combo going, either pulling The Red-Gloved Man or Peter Sylvestre from your deck (and what do you care about exile in standalone mode?), and A Chance Encounter helps you get him back in tight moments. Beyond that, the deck has the basic Agnes kit, including your fight and clue spells, and my favorite, the Forbidden Axe.
For an opening, you want to ideally find a Shrivelling or Fire Axe, and Peter Sylvestre with Rite of Seeking. Bonus points if you snag a Flare or The Red-Gloved Man to set the tempo.
Have now played against Rougarou and Carnevale in standalone mode, and am very satisfied with how effective and flexible I've found this build to be. Will report back after Labyrinths!
Pre-GenCon updates:
-1 Smoking Pipe, +1 Painkillers - This just ends up working better for Peter Sylvestre, and Agnes in general.
-1 Ward of Protection, +1 Stray Cat - A gutsy swap, but assuming we're playing 4p, the cat is going to have more notable targets (I hope), and Ward of Protection is banking on the idea that there's a treachery or two that Agnes can't withstand.
Great write up, thanks! Cannot wait to hear back after Gencon. (Wish I could go!)
