This is intended to be an introductory deck for Wendy players who are not yet familiar with the intricacies of each scenario and feel that Double or Nothing combos are too risky (remember, you don't have Premonition).
Wendy is one of my favorite characters. With her high , she rarely has to worry about enemy management (although you will want a Guardian for those pesky hunter enemies). Furthermore, she has access to all the Rogue cards that let you dodge enemies. Her high means she can easily combat the mythos deck. She is one of the most resilient characters I've played, perfectly thematic for a Survivor . I've ended several games with Wendy with no damage and no horror, or only 2 horror from her weakness.
Upgrades
- Charisma: allows you to get out both Peter Sylvestre and Leo De Luca.
- Peter Sylvestre Peter Sylvestre(2): The extra will is so important to keeping Wendy alive, especially in Dunwich.
- Will to Survive: This is less necessary because of Wendy's ability being able to avoid the most of the time, but it's still one of the best cards for Wendy. It allows her to grab clues or pass some tricky scenario/act tests, like in The Devourer Below.
- Adaptable: Especially if you're playing for a second time, knowing when to throw in "I'm outta here!" or some Fine Clothes can make all the difference.
- Lucky! Lucky!(2): Card draw is super important for fueling Wendy's ability.
Once you have Charisma, I would either Adaptable in a second copy of Leo De Luca and Peter Sylvestre or outright upgrade into Leo De Luca(1) and Peter Sylvestre(2). You should be evading all enemies, so the Aquinnah(3) + Peter Sylvestre(2) combo should never come into play.
That's only 18 experience. Dunwich is notoriously experience-poor, but you should be able to get more than that over the entire game. Upgrade to Leo De Luca(1) to save a resource; upgrade to Emergency Cache(2) to continue drawing cards; buy an Elder Sign Amulet to match your mother's amulet. Throw in some Cat Burglars. If you find yourself with enough cash, buy some Lucky Dice to double up on the redraws. Do what you want. Wendy at 19 experience is nearly unstoppable, and anything past that is just icing.
