“I am not sure we are supposed to be here. Which way is the university?”

The older gentleman watched as Rex Murphy, known journalist, rummaged through an empty apartment.

“I found a clue here, Chris!” Rex said with his arms buried in a stranger’s closet.

Dr. Christopher shifted uncomfortably in the broken entryway. “A clue to what?”

“Clues! If I told you everything, I wouldn’t have your… how did you put it?” Rex paused to overturn a discarded shoe before finishing his sentence. “Intellectual curiosity!”

There was no answer from Dr. Milan. The reporter was too busy stuffing his pockets to notice if his companion had left of his own will or by the will of the malevolence he was investigating.

“Fake silver! Just my luck…”

Rex Murphy, clue and resource bandit.

Burglary and Scavenging are two underused cards which suddenly have a lot of economy for Rex. With those cards and Dr. Milan Christopher in play, Rex can use Burglary to net 4 resources, a discarded item, and a clue.

This is a very investigation-heavy build which needs a combat-heavy partner to function. Rex will be investigating and dodging enemies. Use Rex’s extra resources on skill tests. Use extra item cards on skill tests as well, since Scavenging brings them back.

"I've got a plan!" opens up Rex to occasionally attack, dealing up to 4 damage with a single event card.

Seeking Answers saves Rex from moving into dangerous places and still works with Deduction to mine out those clues.

Solve the Strange Solution or just throw the card into tests and cycle it back with Scavenging. It's the first card to drop when you get XP.

As soon as you get XP, invest it in two copies of Disc of Itzamna. (Replacing Strange Solution.) Rex can start avoiding enemy spawns as long as you can keep using Scavenging to get the Disc back. Any extra XP can be used for the new Pathfinder card, replacing Shortcut.

Ward of Protection is a flex slot. I love it as a 1-of backup plan for treacheries you will not pass. Some other choices could be Backstab or Dynamite Blast for damage or something more techy like Bait and Switch.
