This deck is very simply a vehicle to exploit the combo of The Skeleton Key and Map the Area. Once you have these two cards attached to the same location you can investigate at this location with a difficulty of 0! It is even better in multiplayer, where other investigators can do the same.
Now, this being said, there is a slight problem. First of all you need to find the combo pieces (as with any combo deck), but after that you can only do this on two locations. This is where the rest of the deck comes in. It consists almost solely out of cards that can move more clues onto your chosen location (e.g. Gené Beauregard + Shortcut, Vantage Point), cards that exploit the easy location to get clues off of other locations (e.g. Connect the Dots, Seeking Answers), and cards that help you assemble the combo.
Other than the cards in the deck, Ursula's ability also comes in handy when using Gené to get more clues on one location. There is also one card that is not in the deck which would be incredible, which is Sixth Sense preferably wielded by a Jim Culver or Jacqueline Fine who specializes in symbol drawing.
In play it is vitally important to pick good locations to attach your cards to. And, once you've attached The Skeleton Key and Map the Area to a location, you need to already be looking at the second location you are gonna map the area of so as to get clues off of locations which are only reachable from your first location first. should you not be able to map the area, you can still investigate at at least 4 v 1 which is not too bad.

Jan 30, 2023That is true (and why there are no flashlights in the deck), but Map the Area does not reduce shroud, it reduces the difficulty of skill tests :D |
Jan 30, 2023Oh, wow! Great catch. I'm running Ursula through Scarlet Keys and already found Map the Area to be excellent tech for it, but I will definitely be adding The Skeleton Key to my upgrade plan! |
I love the overall concept of moving clues to the location with the Key, but I don’t think you can further reduce the shroud of the Key’s location.
