FAQs

  • Q: Hi! I have a question about the Robert Castaigne (4) card. Its text says: '...Then, you may either discard the revealed asset to draw 1 card, or play that asset (paying its cost).' By saying 'you may either,' does that mean I can choose to do neither option and simply keep the weapon in my hand? If so, that would allow me to gain a free combat action every turn without spending an action, without triggering attacks of opportunity, and with unlimited ammo. That seems overwhelmingly strong, almost broken, and it would make the 'discard the card' requirement nearly meaningless. However, some people in the community are interpreting it this way, so I’d like to confirm whether this was the intended ruling for the card or not. A: Given Robert Castaigne states you “may either” do one of the given options, not you “must either,” you are able to choose neither option and keep the revealed asset in your hand. If this card’s ability continuously yields unintended play patterns, we will address that at a future date; for now, play its ability as written. (Rules Forum Answer, March 2025)
