Here are the key interactions:
Whenever Carolyn draws a card - and she has a lot of card draw - she can choose to trigger Ancient Stone and heal horror. This sets of a lot of additional effects:
- Either she'll heal actual horror if she's damaged, or she can send the excess to Soul Sanctification
- She gets a free clue from her passive
- Experimental Psychology gives her a +2 on her next test
- She gets a resource from Private Practice
Then, we go to Archaic Glyphs. All of the above can combo together for a huge investigation roll:
- Base 6 with Dr. Milan Christopher
- +2 from Soul Sanctification
- +2 from Experimental Psychology
- +2 from a charge on Mouse Mask
- +6 by using Private Practice, Dr. Milan Christopher, and the upkeep resource on Higher Education
Even before skills, that's a 18 roll. Generally enough to sweep all the remaining clues in one action. Of course, you should tailor the resources you use to however many clues remain on the location.
The most convenient time to trigger card draw is at the start of the turn, which is why Guts, Manual Dexterity, and the Tooth of Eztli come in.
Naturally, this deck is best used in large multiplayer with 3 or 4 , so there are locations with tons of clues to vacuum up.
I started with In the Thick of It to give us a jump on the difficult unlocking of Ancient Stone and Archaic Glyphs, though this isn't strictly required

Sep 13, 2026Good catch on the private practice! Missed that. Amended now. As to your other question, when you have to research cards like Stone/Glyph, it is going to slow you down in early missions. Taking In the Thick of It can compensate for that by starting with Higher Education. |
"Each" Private Practice? You can have only one in play. Also, what do you mean by "give us a jump on the difficult unlocking of Ancient Stone and Archaic Glyphs"? You have to research them to be able to use them.
