Ok, there's no real high profile, intellectual, crazy concept behind this deck. Just pure, unadulterated fun. And by fun I mean "shooting a gun a funload of times". Yeah, you opened a List, what did you expect? Carolyn?
So, Remington Model 1858 (from here on, The Gun) shoots fro free when it comes and when it goes. So we need to make it come and go as many times as we humanly can. Prepared for the Worst helps us finding and playing The Gun, Act of Desperation gets rid of it (while punching once more!), or simply playing another copy of The Gun (this arguably makes the fact that Marion only has one hand slot a benefit more than a deficit, which is also very cool). Pushed to the Limit lets you shoot The Gun from the discard pile while reshuffling it in our deck. All three of these cards can be nicely stuffed under Stick to the Plan, so there's your engine. Oh, Hand-Eye Coordination lets you shoot some more, so there's also that. You're very welcome.
Why did I choose Gambit for this Marion? Easy. Practice Makes Perfect is fast, lets you fish out a nice Overpower or Vicious Blow and triggers Marion's ability in a tight spot. Imagine this: you play The Gun, shoot as a reaction, play PMP, find Vicious, trigger Marion, draw, play Fang of Tyr'thrha, fight with base 7 (+), deal 4, fight with base 8 (+2+Vicious), deal another 3-4, possibly move wherever you want. This is your first action of the turn, you've just dealt 7-8 damage to one or two enemies wherever you want. You can shoot The Gun two more times. You're free. You're having fun. Life is good.
Other cards aim to make good econ and card draw(Madame Labranche, Emergency Cache), healing (Hallowed Mirror, Ready for Anything), finding enemies (Kicking the Hornet's Nest) and in general triggering Marion's ability with consistency (Improvised Weapon) and most importantly fast (Hunter's Mark, Hand-Eye Coordination).
A fun, simple, great deck. Straight as a line, a blast on your enemies, a joy to see it perform well. Let's talk some nuts numbers before saying goodbye, shall we?
Scenario: The Standoff
The Gun is in hand. You have Hand-Eye Coordination, Practice Makes Perfect, Fang of Tyr'thrha and Hunter's Mark in hand. Act of Desperation is either in hand or under Stick to the Plan.
You play The Gun. Before shooting, you play Hunter's Mark (not triggering Marion). Bang 1. You play Hand-Eye (again, don't trigger Marion). Bang 2. You shoot. Bang 3. You shoot (last bullet). You Play Practice, find Vicious, trigger Marion, play Act, discard The Gun, reaction shot. On the last attack you discard Hunter's Mark. Bang 4 and 5 + Act (also called, ButtBang, which sounds equally gross and fun).
Every Bang is at base 7, the last one is at 9. You deal a total of 15 damage over the course of one turn. You're probably ready to go again the turn after that. Do you feel it? It's a breath of fresh air. You're running in a field full of bullets. You're alive. Now go play, have fun, shoot things.
Take a Gunbit with Marion.

Mar 12, 2025Thanks for publishing this deck, it looks very interesting and is using smart combos. I might give it a run on the new campaign when it gets released here. |

Mar 16, 2025I love this deck, it's so creative! It's amazing that from the same investigator, we could come up with such different builds! I am also super happy to see different builds than my more "standard" ones. |

This is a thing I missed from Hemlock investigators (except my fav boy Kohaku): they all felt kinda linear in deckbuilding, with a build feeling way more optimal than others. This time around they're all giving us so much space to be creative with, and Marion's deckbuilding has been unexpectedly deep! I love it. Gonna post an Agatha list in a couple mins, super curious to know what you think about it and to see your list for her! |
Mar 16, 2025*Edit: I'll post Agatha as soon as they correct the bug preventing from posting Seeker Agatha lists! |
I like it, cool concept! My only thought is you'll need to take Attack of Opportunities to play your gun in an enemy's face. In this regard Bulwark would have you covered, realistically you should kill an enemy every turn when you use it and so seal on Bulwark again. As Bulwark readies an exhausted card, Beat Cop •• might be a better pairing so he can do double duty (you have Hallowed Mirror already for some healing so I think this would work okay). I also think Scrounge for Supplies would be worth it on this deck, to recur either Act or Pushed to the Limit and so ensure more fun with the gun.
(Another very minor point is you're likely missing In the Thick of It, I take it you were going for 29 XP so this can be used at that standalone benchmark?)
