"Yes sir, i used to be a journalist. But not anymore, since my discovery with all those monsters lurking around these days it's just more profitable to change profession. Can't really give you details but trust me - this Solution, it really works wonders to get rid of any nast creaures! Especially with a little bit of Sleight of Hand. And i don't like to brag but thanks to my Higher Education i can quite proficiently cast some dangerous spells as well. Also i'm a strong believer in Mind over Matter but let me tell you, it really feels great to smash a cultist with a Shovel once in a while. How do i know where to hit? I studied some Anatomical Diagrams and such, quite useful i must say. Plus i can always count on my friend to help me fight. So no worries sir, i'll get the job done."

Introduction

So yeah, i was bored a bit and imagined what if Rex quit journalism and became monster hunter? Deck was tested in Night of the Zealot Campaign in pair with Jim Culver who was responsible for clue gathering. Currently taking it through Dunwich. List shows first upgrades which obviously should be Acidic Ichor and Higher Education. Next in line are Emergency Cache(3) to replenish Strange Solution and Scientific Theory which i found to be quite effective skill boost in pair with Shovel.

Important This deck is a 11XP version. For 0XP there is no Acidic Ichor yet which is single most important card in this deck, so we have to rely more on other investigators during first or second scenario. In solo play other combat options were more than enough.

Ideally you want to pair Rex with anyone that has access to Delve Too Deep so you can potentially buy upgraded solution after first scenario of a campaign.

Card reasoning and piloting

Sleight of Hand is solely for more uses of solution. One could argue that Scavenging would be better but discarding Strange Solution is not very reliable plus with all other cards that help in combat Sleight of Handing Solution is enough.

Quantum Flux is very important to reshuffle all events especially Mind over Matter and Sleight of Hand for more combat and it also protects in a way against recurring Rex's Curse.

Gravedigger's Shovel and Mind over Matter are there to deal with weaker but annoying enemies such as Acolytes. Anything with 2 or 4 health can be dealt with Shrivelling.

Sleight of Hand + Strange Solution is meant for dealing with high health enemies but don't be afraid to use this minicombo to one shot 3 health enemy if there is no other option. Between No Stone Unturned, Quantum Flux and Eureka!/Preposterous Sketches there is plenty of digging to find another copy of either Sleight of Hand or Solution. Anatomical Diagrams also help with weaker enemies but i often used it to evade non-hunter enemies that didn't pose any real threat in terms of adding doom tokens or other nasty effects.

Please note that deckbuilder doesn't let me put Eureka! in Rex deck so i went with Preposterous Sketches.

No "I've got a plan!"? It's too expensive in my opinion and we have plethora of other fighting options.

Upgrades

Identifying Solution and buying Acidic Ichor is top priority. Higher Education is also important besides boosting Shrivelling it help on Mind Over Matter turns and with Investigating but one could argue that Emergency Cache(3) or Scientific Theory might be more important. So it's really up to you. Pathfinder or Shortcut(2) over Shortcut(0) for mobility. I haven't tried Expose Weakness yet but i suppose it can work plus it has decent icons so could replace Overpower.

Conclusion

This deck might not be the best or most efficient in the world but it holds up pretty well and i just couldn't stand another clue gathering Rex and really wanted to play him. Hopefully someone will find it fun to play too.

Very cool build that shows the flexibility available as more packs are added to the pool. I look forward to seeing this develop and trying it myself.
