Hello ? Yes, this is dog
WARNING ! Vicious Blow is a placeholder for Inspiring Presence as the latter is not yet released.
The idea of this deck came to me when unitled noticed adding doom was optional when using David Renfield’s ability. He built a Daisy deck to leverage the interesting math behind David Renfield while I chose to try a Pete deck as Pete can make an extra use for David Renfield.
On a 5 treshold agenda, for example, you can get an insane number of resources :
- turn 1 : total doom is 0, exhaust David and place 1 doom on him to get 1 resource, discard to ready David, exhaust David and place 1 doom on him to get 2 resources
- turn 2 : total doom is 3, exhaust David to get 2 resources, discard to ready David, exhaust David to get 2 resources
- turn 3 : total doom is 4, exhaust David and place 1 doom on him to get 3 resources, discard to ready David, exhaust David and place 1 doom on him to get 4 resources, get rid of Renfield
That is a total of 14 resources for 3 cards discarded. To get rid of David Renfield, you can use Smoking Pipe or, better, Calling in Favors.
Calling in Favors and A Chance Encounter are there to give you multiple uses of David Renfield.
At level 0 there’s not much to do with all this resources but on levelling things get interesting (Scrapper, Plucky, Will to Survive). Rabbit's Foot, Laboratory Assistant and the neutral skills should help you draw cards for fueling Pete's ability. You can also use Inspiring Presence.
Upgrade path should be something along the lines of :
- Scrapper or Plucky depending on your role (fighter or seeker) in the party : if you go for Plucky, replace Dig Deep
- Scrapper or Plucky depending on what you took first
- Charisma
- Aquinnah or Aquinnah replacing Peter Sylvestre
- Will to Survive replacing Fight or Flight
Once more, great thanks to unitled and zozo for their invaluable guidance.
Version 2.0
- replaced Madame Labranche with Peter Sylvestre as suggested by unitled
- replaced Scavenging with Rabbit's Foot thanks to a remark from Django

Jan 10, 2018I really like this. Simply adding a key card breathes new life into Pete. I thought I had him all figured out. It seems very risky in scenarios where the encounter deck doles out extra doom, but risk is fun. There's plenty of room for customization here. Half the cards could be swapped out depending on playstyle and it would still work. I'll definitely be making my own deck using the "Pete + Card Draw + Renfield = profit" concept. I am certainly tempted to keep including Flare to almost guarantee getting Renfield or Moonlight Ritual to further mitigate risk, but they may not even be necessary. |
Prefer this to the previous version, I think those couple of tweaks take this up to being a very solid (and fun) deck, more than capable of being played solo. Great work :)
