Disclaimer: this is a thought and math experiment, not a serious deck. This is an examination of the largest number of 'leads' that is possible to place on Breach the Door. This is also intended for those who are at least somewhat experienced with Arkham Horror LCG as I wont go in depth explaining very many cards.

Introduction

One particularly restful night, I started to think about a new card I think is under-utilized; [Breach the Door](/card/09026). Breach the door, simply, allows an investigator to, for 2 resources, test 1 and reduce the shroud of their current location by the amount they succeed by permanently. I started thinking about in theory, if we had control of fate and chance, what is the largest possible number of tokens one can put on this card. While I could go out with some rouge who used [Versatile](/card/06167) to add breach the door into their deck, and have 2 spam investigators play [A Watchful Peace](/card/07269) and [Hallow](/card/07301) every turn forever while I play [Emergency Cache](/card/03239) and [Hot Streak](/card/01057) as many times as possible to boost with [Hard Knocks](/card/50005), I feel like that would be dumb. so I decided to take a more thorough look with a more strict rule set. These are my results. TLDR at the bottom.

The Rules

- First, infinite cycles are off the table. this include permanent stall like I mentioned above, but also any card that builds value over time like [Alchemical Distillation](/card/09040) or the second half of [Sister Mary](/card/07001)'s ability. If it requires me to check how many rounds have past it's not allowed - Second, we only get cards from one campaign. no entering one campaign and completing it just so one of our buddy's can have [Lita Chantler](/card/01117), then starting another. we will, however, do all side scenarios - Third, we get to control fate in this case. the circumstances that lead into what we are going to do are incredibly unlikely, and as I will soon tell, will involve drawing 10 consecutive tokens into a . - Fourth, we'll assume that each investigator has perfect resources. That is to say they have earned exactly the experience they need to build their deck and no more. Same of actual resources. We'll assume each investigator somehow gets the number they need to play every single one of their assets and events and will end their hypothetical turn with 0 resources and clues. With that I think we're ready to talk about the build.

The Scenario

The investigator we'll be using is good ol' [Charlie Kane](/card/09018). While [Mark Harrigan](/card/03001) might be the obvious answer being able to get to a whopping 19 before we start building his deck, Charlie comes out better due the allies he gets access to and his ability. We'll be doing this build in 'into the maelstrom' as this gives us access to [Elina Harper](/card/07083), and three additional useless cards to commit, This also gives us access to the ideal spot for *the test*, [Gateway to Y'ha-nthlei](/card/07320), which has no effects and is connected to 4 other locations for [Hemispheric Map](/card/04275). - [Gateway to Y'ha-nthlei](/card/07320) also has 0 clues which doesn't matter to the setup but I want to make sure you understand exactly how much effort we're going through for literally nothing.

The Deck

- First is the weakness. while no weakness secretly benefits us, we'll just pretend its [The 13th Vision](/card/05041) since we wont be tying this test. - Second, we'll look at side scenarios. thanks to being able to draw our entire deck, the following cards will be commited, and will not be in our play area. - [Abbess Allegria Di Biase](/card/82022), [Ancient Ankh](/card/83056), [Khopesh of the Abyss](/card/83057), [Cloak of the Outer Realm](/card/86051), [Sergeant Monroe](/card/84008), [Pocket Portal](/card/86052), [Bloodstained Dagger](/card/84006),[Lt. Wilson Stewart](/card/85032), [Mi-Go Weapon](/card/85031), [Universal Solvent](/card/85029), [Nikola Tesla](/card/87014), [Ezra Graves](/card/87023), [Dimensional Beam Machine](/card/87032), isamara ordonez(1,1), [Pet Oozeling](/card/85030). - As for those not listed, [Gilded Volto](/card/82026) will allow us to take this test as rather than . [Monstrous Transformation](/card/81030) will set our base and to 5 - Lastly, deck of possibilities will give us +1 and and allow us to play any asset from among *our collection*, we will use this to play a third [Bestow Resolve](/card/09032). - All of the other assets in our deck will be played, and fully active - Our [Key of Ys](/card/03315) will have 3 horror on it, we will be at a location with 4 connections for [Hemispheric Map](/card/04275), one of our buddies will give a us a [Dragon Pole](/card/08060) activating [Bandolier](/card/51001), and during the test we will have 0 resources, activating [Dark Horse](/card/02234). - This also conveniently gives us an asset of every class for [Strength in Numbers](/card/08077) bringing it up to 6 icons. - [Observed](/card/54013) will give us temperance for +1 sanity.

The Friends

In order to make sure the door is as breached as possible, charlie has 3 friends who are going to help him. Rather than explain each of them here, I'll leave a description of what each of them do with their deck lists. Diana Stanley Joe Diamond Sister Mary

The Combo

Prior to the combo [Diana Stanley](/card/05004) will give [Charlie Kane](/card/09018) a [Dragon Pole](/card/08060) giving us + 1 from [Bandolier](/card/02147) and the extra arcane slot we need for the third [Bestow Resolve](/card/09032) we'll get from deck of possibilities. We start the turn with 8 cards in hand and 29 of the cards in our deck in play, as well as [Diana Stanley](/card/05004)'s [Dragon Pole](/card/08060). our deck currently consists of 33 cards. our [Key of Ys](/card/03315) has 3 horror on it, and Charlie currently only has 1 health and 1 sanity, and we have 10 horror on us. During the mythos phase, [Charlie Kane](/card/09018), [Diana Stanley](/card/05004), and [Sister Mary](/card/07001) will all draw a test, allowing them to add them to their play area, boosting their stats. Currently our stats line is 10, 12, 15, 18 (remember we have +1 and from deck of possibilities.) [Joe Diamond](/card/05002) will, on his turn, play a total of 7 copies of [Cryptic Research](/card/01043) and 8 copies of [No Stone Unturned](/card/03307) on Charlie, causing him to draw a total of 29 cards. of those, 1 of them will be [At a Crossroads](/card/09109) reducing our actions to 2 but drawing 3, putting us to 32 cards drawn, fortunately, the last card in our deck is [Burden of Leadership](/card/09020) Next we will remove ace of rods from the game, giving us +2 to each skill and our breach the door action. we will also play both copies of [Fight or Flight](/card/03155) boosting our and by 20 each. Our stats are now 12, 14, 36, 39. Finally we can play [Breach the Door](/card/09026). immediately First, lets check bestow resolve. we get to pick 12 targets. those targets are 1 [Say Your Prayers](/card/03116), 1 [Reckless Assault](/card/03118), 1 [Desperate Search](/card/03117), 2 [Dauntless Spirit](/card/08078), 2 [Defensive Stance](/card/08024), 1 [Overpower](/card/60126), 1 [Ancient Ankh](/card/83056), 2 [Physical Training](/card/50001) and [Abbess Allegria Di Biase](/card/82022). - Our desperate cards grant a collect 12, [Physical Training](/card/50001), [Overpower](/card/60126), and [Abbess Allegria Di Biase](/card/82022) grant a collective 17, each copy of [Dauntless Spirit](/card/08078) grants 48 icons, and each copy of [Defensive Stance](/card/08024) grants a mind boggling 75 icons. - That brings our total for [Bestow Resolve](/card/09032) to 275 icons. Commiting the rest of our unplayed cards gives us 41 usable icons bringing our grand total for commit to 316 before our helpers. With [Charlie Kane](/card/09018)'s 316, [Diana Stanley](/card/05004)'s 138, [Joe Diamond](/card/05002)'s 104, and [Sister Mary](/card/07001)'s 112 we get a total of 670 icons committed. - Because of [Helping Hand](/card/09031), this number is doubled to 1340 icons committed. Next we have some clean up, using [Charlie Kane](/card/09018)'s ability, exhausting all allies give us another +14, using both [Well Prepared](/card/04151)'s on [The Black Cat](/card/06285) give us another +4. Last we add our 39 to reach our grand score for this test: 1397. For our chaos token we pull to consecutive tokens, set up by [Sister Mary](/card/07001) followed by a , which is turned into a + 5 by [The Black Cat](/card/06285). This means our chaos token value is a total of +25 Since this test is at a location with [Map the Area](/card/09048) we need only take our modified value to find the number of tokens we should place. On resolution of [Breach the Door](/card/09026) we would then place an absolutely devastating 1422 lead tokens on [Breach the Door](/card/09026). Take that [Gateway to Y'ha-nthlei](/card/07320)! may your 2 shroud value never be seen again.

Conclusion and TLDR

All in all, this was fun. I got to mess around with the idea of a few cards I've never actually played before. But most of all, I'm just glad I never have to think about this again. I doubt I fully optimized it. Given my rule set and I think I left behind a few optimization scraps in this specific build to give it another 2 or 3 tokens, but frankly, I just want to be done with this. Please don't ask me to fix anything because I never want to touch this thing again. thank you. TLDR the number of tokens I got was 1422.
