I made this deck to tackle a couple of standalones (Blob, Machinations) however it’s a target deck for any ashcan build, it’s very strong!

I hadn’t worked with Short supply before (I HATE discarding cards!) so I set myself a challenge of making a deck that I liked and would use again, I succeeded! I love this deck.

The idea is you’re happy with anything short supply puts in the bin, you’ll be able to get it back very quickly. The only recursion card thats xp is True Survivor so you’ll be digging from the bin from scenario 1 without them. That said True Survivor means all your skill cards in this deck are back whenever you want them (fairly standard survivor) that’s why they’re mostly innate cards.

So why Pete? Because he can take on your own and still have his faithful buddy with him, dark horse and on your own is already silly, you can be poor and still afford your events. What’s that? Want to do on your own twice a turn? Pete’s your man. Doesn’t matter what you discard, you’re getting it back whenever you want it!

With Short Supply and your Mulligan you’re seeing 20 cards in your deck, you’ll want at least a resourceful, that gets the engine going. After that it depends on what goes in your bin, all your items? Find scavenging, no stone unturned will help if its still in your deck. After that you can recur your leather coat and catalogues to your hearts content.

The catalogue is there to pay for the multi tool and the bauble if you’ve set up your dark horse before hand. It’s also really useful for everyone else.

Nightmare Bauble is worth every single point of XP, I am shocked it's not exceptional!

Why the pocket multi tool over something like an ice pick? It’s versatile and can take any extra XP you get, you won’t have much to spend after you get to 29XP (maybe an upgraded Lucky).

Now the important bit, skill tests! Dark Horse adding +1 to everything is just great, this deck doesn't need money so your events are free with one exception which I’ll get to later. Duke can do his thing twice a turn with Pete’s ability or 3 times if you use inspiring presence as well. Base 5 for fight/clue tests with your Multi tool making it a 6 without upgrades on it. Not enough? Cornered for an extra +2.

Once you get your XP up you get to add Brute Force and Sharp Vision to your deck, these cards are just great. Brute force takes dark horse pete to a base 6, multi tool to 7. Again not enough? Cornered. That’s 9 without an actual skill card used (and you will use them).

Once you're going resourceful is only for True Survivor. True Survivor is the exception I mentioned, when you need to use it take your dark horse resource. Then you take a resourceful back and any other 2 innate skills you’re needing to use that game. Keep that cycle going and you’ll pass every test the game has to throw at you. The bauble will negate 3 auto fails a game. Again why is this card not exceptional!

Spectral Razor and Working a Hunch are there when you can’t use your Brute Force or Sharp Vision respectively. Scrounge can get them back if you need them again.

Just remember, Pete can use his ability to ready any exhausted asset he has once per turn, it was meant for Duke but on your own, cornered and the multi tool may well be the bigger targets! Don’t worry about throwing anything in the bin to make them work when you need them, that’s just a new deck you can choose cards from!
